About EO PLACE and its data sources

EO PLACE is an unofficial fan service that helps FFXIV players discover events and screenshot locations, then create shareable images from their screenshots.

The Lodestone

When you enter a public character-profile URL in the image maker, the EO PLACE server reads the profile published on The Lodestone. It obtains the character ID, name, World, data center, current job, race and clan, job levels, and public character portrait for filling in the card.

EO PLACE stores the retrieved public profile fields and a processed copy of the public portrait in a server-side cache. The cache is shared by Lodestone character ID and is not linked to the EO PLACE account that requested the import. Later imports can reuse that saved copy without requesting the profile from The Lodestone again.

The importer does not verify that you own the character, and it does not obtain achievements, achievement dates, account credentials, private profile fields, or Square Enix passwords.

XIVAPI

EO PLACE uses XIVAPI for static in-game master data such as jobs, races and clans, Worlds and data centers, map definitions, place names, and weather choices. This data is synchronized in advance, reviewed, and stored as a versioned snapshot on EO PLACE.

Creating a card does not make a live request to XIVAPI. Lodestone character URLs and IDs, character names, imported profile values, uploaded images, and EO PLACE account information are not sent to XIVAPI. Master-data synchronization contains no character or account information.

Character-card data flow

You send a public Lodestone character-profile URL to EO PLACE.
EO PLACE extracts the character ID and either reads its cache or retrieves that public profile and portrait from The Lodestone.
The imported fields are returned to the browser and applied to the image maker. Static labels are resolved from EO PLACE's local XIVAPI snapshot.
The finished image stays in the browser unless a signed-in user explicitly saves it to My Page.
