What is an FFXIV role-play venue?
Role-play venues let players converse or receive service in character. The depth of role-play and house rules differ widely between venues.
Common RP styles
- Staff stay in character while guests may chat normally
- Guests also speak as their characters
- Story or performance-led experiences
- Casual conversation with optional RP
What to read first
Check whether RP is required, whether beginners are welcome, and whether the venue has a setting or specific boundaries. Its guide may also explain notation and unfamiliar terms.
Your first RP visit
It is fine to say you are new. You do not need to follow a scene you are uncomfortable with, and you may decline requests for contact or interaction outside the venue.
Separate character and player
A character's words do not necessarily express the player's intent. Respect boundaries, and contact the operator or leave if you become uncomfortable.
